Creative Heritage Ltd is run by Ben Kirk MSc Timber building conservation.Ben has been passionate about historic buildings since a young age when his father worked for a stone masonry company specialising in historic buildings.
Ben has recently completed a master’s degree in Timber building conservation to complement his technical knowledge and the 12 years experience in designing timber framed buildings and preparing and submitting applications for planning approval and listed building consent.
Having worked for a number of timber frame companies and carpenters as an independent consultant and designer Ben now works as a design consultant for TJ Crump Oakwrights Ltd and has experience of both residential and commercial projects.
A member of the Carpenters Fellowship, an affiliate member of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) as well as a member of a number of other specialist and regional historic building groups, Ben’s passion for the preservation of our built heritage, design skills and an understanding of an ever more complex planning system combine to provide a unique consultancy that is truly specialist in its field.
We offer a full range of design, specification and management services involving historic timber frames and associated materials such as wattle and daub, with projects ranging from historic houses to barn conversions.
In our new build work, primarily as a design consultancy, we work with clients to design buildings that will stand the test of time and compliment their often rural and sensitive environment.
Much of our work forms part of the design and detailing process for works to go out to competitive tender however we do realise that both the designer and the builder need to be able to work together to enable a successful project – Over the years we have formed solid relationships with specialist companies in the timber framing industry, our associates page provides details of these individuals and companies whom we are happy to work with to provide a full “design and build” service for both new build and conservation work.
